AWARDS

At each Canalway Cavalcade we award various
prizes, mainly for participating boats. Here are those we offer currently. In
each case, clicking the icon will show you a list of
previous winners.
THE MARCUS BOUDIER TROPHY is
awarded for the best-decorated privately entered boat in Saturdays
Pageant. It was instituted by the (then) London Branch of IWA in memory of one
of its former committee members who died in a boating accident.

THE RAY DUNFORD BUCKBY CAN
TROPHY is for the best decorated boat entered by a waterway or
community group. At one time the Marcus Boudier Trophy had covered all
non-commercial entries and we felt that groups had an unfair advantage over
private owners, so we split the two categories and launched this award. The
trophy itself, a boats traditionally-painted water can, was donated for
the purpose by the well-known decorative painter (and former London boater) Ray
Dunford. Ray died in 1999, and the trophy is one of many things by which he
will be remembered. Previous

THE CRUISE ELECTRIC TROPHY,
originally sponsored by London Electricity, is awarded to the best illuminated
boat in Sunday evenings procession.

THE GRAHAM CAPELIN AWARD goes
to the best entry (short of winning either competition) from a boater who has
not previously taken part in either the Saturday Pageant or Illuminated Boats.
Graham, in whose memory it was donated, was a regular competitor in both
events. Previous winners
THE WESTMINSTER TROPHY,
sponsored by the City of Westminster, goes to the winner of the boat-handling
competition which takes place during Sunday and Monday.Previous winners
In 2000 it was joined for the first time by
the ROGER SQUIRES TROPHY for the best novice competitor in
that event. This was presented by St Pancras Cruising Club in recognition of
Rogers 10-year stint as their Commodore.

THE VIC TROTT MEMORIAL TROPHY
is open to boaters and non-boaters alike and goes to the couple in the
best boaters Sunday best costume. It is another award in memory of
a former Canalway Cavalcade regular who has passed on. Vic was one of the group
of boaters who come here each year from the River Wey.
